9 Easy to Make REALLY Amazing Birthday Cakes
My little daughter is not so little anymore. She’s turning 6 next week, and while we were planning her birthday, I started to feel this familiar stress that I am feeling every time I need to bake a birthday cake.
Usually this stress ends with my sister-in-law baking an always gorgeous cake…
This year I decided to give a fight!
I googled looking for the coolest easy to make cakes I could find, which turned out to be not such an easy task! The coolest cakes are never easy to make…
For example: No, really: Is this easy???? For you, maybe. Definitely not for me!

Eventually, I sat with my daughter and let her choose from some options that I managed to find.
She had a difficult time choosing, so we decided to bake all the cakes! One each weekend…
She loves taking responsibility in the kitchen, usually I only guide her and don’t need to interfere a lot.
I’m not sure this is very educational, but it will sure be fun and tasty!
These are the easy to make cake choices she made:
1. Flower pots cake:
Believe it or not, those pots are filled with GF cake, Turtle Mountain ice cream and topped with GF crushed up “oreos”.
Found them in this blog . The recipe is here
How is this for an original easy to make cake?
2. Kit Kat cake:
This is so easy to make, even for me!
Actually it doesn’t matter what’s inside, the simplest chocolate cake will do.
It’s the kit Kat that made her squeal with delight.
Found here
As you can see, there are many versions of this amazing idea, all great.
3. Rainbow cake:
Picture is from Pinterest, it doesn’t really link anywhere – but let’s face it:
The simplest recipe that you have will do, if you bake several sizes, put them one on top of the other and cover it with a chocolate cream and colored cake decorations.
It’s only the rainbow colors that matter. Amazing, isn’t it?

4. Colored cake:
The simplest cake recipe covered with cake decorations of mixed colors are the whole secret.
So simple and so amazing!
Found here
5. White cake:
My daughter had also chosen for you this one:
Cover it with whipped cream and M& M’s, and you’re a genius.
Idea from here
6. Another rainbow cake:
Now this requires a bit more effort, but not a lot.
It’s mainly a simple white cake mixed with colors.
And this is how it looks when ready:
Full instructions here
7. Ice cream cone cake:
This one is also an amazing idea (hey, did you hear me saying that before??)
This looks complicated, (at least to me!) but it’s really only about decorating cupcakes (in this case they used confetti sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, & toffee bits for decorations) and placing them one on top of the other in the shape of an ice cream cone!
This great easy to make cake idea is from this blog.
8. Marshmellow cake:
Did you think we’re finished? This is my daughter’s choice for the kindergarten! A cake covered with marshmallows.
Can a cake get any more simple that that?
Picture here, again no recipe is needed:
Just bake a white or chocolate simple cake and cover it on a whipped cream or chocolate cream.
9. Donats cake:
She was also thrilled with this.
Looks amazing, and no work at all! Exactly for moms like me: Buy the donats, let the birthday bride put it on top of the other and then let her decorate it with something. The perfect cake! Found it here
I don’t feel very smart, now that I see how easy it is to create the most amazing cake.
I am loving this! I am not the best person to be let loose in the kitchen but a few of these I can definitely make!
Those are wonderful ideas! I’m definitely going to try the ice cream cone/cupcake one! Thanks for these.
