We recently studied in the book of Exodus are thought it funny when Jacob’s father in law tells him that he can only keep offspring that are born; spotted, striped or speckled. Guess what happened? All of the offspring from stock that Jacob cared for are…spotted, striped or speckled!

My eldest son loves baseball, even before he could walk he was fascinated by any round object he could throw! As a toddler, rocks, Frisbees , planters various household items became projectiles across the yard, living room or porch.

After returning home from a very exhausting emergency trip, with little sleep and starting Monday on Tuesday, I log into my children’s online school webpage. Just coming off  Spring Break I check the web mail and notice a message from my almost thirteen year old’s Art teacher.

It very plainly states that she plagiarized a picture from an internet source, she was receiving 0/100 on the Portfolio with a grade of “F”!
After closing my mouth, due to my lower jaw hitting the desk my initial reaction is anger, then astonishment.

Even though I have an adult son who is successful in his career, married and currently living abroad with his lovely wife, being proud of him has not progressed into the feeling of accomplishment as a parent that I had expected.

We experienced an event this week that every parent dreads; the loss of a pet. My ten-year old son  was born with a heart of compassion. When he was two and my youngest daughter four we ventured into getting chicks.

The local farm store had the cute, fuzzy little peepers and each child picked out two and we took home 7! Having pets is a lot of work, even at this age children can learn how rewarding it is to take good care of a living creature. Toddlers can hold their little hands out so the chicks can play jumping off and on the hand. The children helped cleaning, feeding and moving the chicks as they grew.

The day starts with convincing my tired, creaky bones why I really need to get out of my nice warm bed.

Having to pry a cranky, pre-teen out of bed is not a fun way to start the day either!

I am supposed to write about life on Z Farm, chores, critters and our adventures. This week has been crazy as usual, I had Monday off and tried to accomplish more than humanly possible within the time I normally would be at work.
