A couple of months ago I noticed my 9-year-old daughter making some unusual sounds while she was playing games on her computer.  At first I thought she was just amusing herself.  When I continued to hear it the next day I began observing her quietly.  While repeatedly making this “pah” sound she kept jerking her head to the left.  I went online and began to do some research.  I kept coming up with the possibility of Tourettes Syndrome.

Yes, there is  life  after emotional abuse but it takes some time to heal.

For me, the first crucial step from emotional abuse into healing was no longer having to physically be around the abuser  on a day to day basis.   Next there were a LOT of tears.  I spent many days  just sitting and staring into oblivion.

A few months ago my 9-year old daughter  was playing with Coco, her pet guinea pig and accidentally dropped him.  I  heard him making noises and went into her room to see what was going on.  She told me what had happened and we gently put him back in his cage and observed him for awhile.  At first I thought he was going to be alright.

We live on the outskirts of a town of about 13,000 residents.  However, we are very close to several larger towns.  I remember the first county fair my husband attended with me to watch our daughter ‘show’ her pet rabbit.  He saw kids running around with chickens and rabbits and was under the impression that our daughter must be the only one in the group who was not growing up on a farm.  4-H is not just for rural kids.
