 Adopted Kids Need Sensitive and Understanding Teachers Star of the week, Family Trees, Charting Genetic Traits and Baby Pictures are all difficult school assignments for those adopted kids, or those who are in foster care. Children who were adopted at a later age may not have baby pictures. Children who are Star’s of the Week may not be comfortable answering the inevitable questions surrounding adoption, especially if the it is a transracial adoption.

Gotcha DayToday is our Gotcha Day.  Two years ago Chatterbox and Giggles moved into our house.  Here in Australia, there isn’t the same use of the term Gotcha Day as there is in America.  We thought long and hard about what to call the anniversary of when the kids moved in.  Gotcha Day, Family Day, Family-versary, Family Anniversary… We also briefly considered using our last names.

We recently studied in the book of Exodus are thought it funny when Jacob’s father in law tells him that he can only keep offspring that are born; spotted, striped or speckled. Guess what happened? All of the offspring from stock that Jacob cared for are…spotted, striped or speckled!

This adoption movie is the poignant story of four teenage girls who were adopted from China and now living in the US. Each girl is trying, some struggling more than others, to define their identity and how they fit into the primarily white culture they live in.
